LONGVIEW -- The Longview Lobos needed to rebound from their district-opening loss two weeks ago at Mesquite, and it didn't take long for them to put it in the rear-view mirror.

Tory White rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns, Dezmond Chumley tossed a pair of touchdowns and the Lobos raced out to a 49-0 first-half lead en route to a 52-27 rout of Rockwall-Heath on Friday night at Lobo Stadium.

Longview (4-2, 1-1 in District 12-5A) scored on all six of its first-half possessions, mixing in a Nakia Brown 70-yard punt return for a touchdown to build a 49-6 lead before halftime.

"Everything went right for us this time and wrong for them," Longview coach John King said. "They had some penalties and some short-yardage situations where we backed them up and made some plays, got some turnovers."

White, who had 100 yards in the opening quarter alone, did his damage on just 13 carries. Chumley completed 5 of 6 attempts -- his only incompletion was a drop -- for 71 yards, all coming in the first half.

The win was a much-needed breath of fresh air for Longview, which fumbled nine times in its 33-7 loss to Mesquite on Sept. 28.

"It puts us at 1-1 in district and gets us back on track for a playoff spot," King said. "You go 0-2 here, it's not good. We were fortunate enough to win and beat a good team."

Rockwall-Heath (4-3, 1-2) scored right before the half, and added a pair of defensive touchdowns in the fourth quarter to make the final margin more respectable. Longview outgained Heath, 398-247, scaling back its offense considerably in the second half.

Longview's offense was able to negate Rockwall-Heath's trio of Division I commits -- defensive ends Jordan Points and Jay Arnold (Texas A&M) and linebacker Raaquan Davis (Baylor).

"We didn't block them the same way every time," King said. "We couldn't let them zero in on us because they're too good of players. The big thing is that we were able to run inside zone better than I expected, and that kind of took it to the meat of the defense."

Friday night was also the Longview debut for senior defensive end Tre Allen, an Arkansas State commit who transferred from Chapel Hill earlier in the season.

"He did some good things," King said. "I watched him when he was out there from time to time."

It took Longview six plays to go up 7-0, scoring on White's 44-yard touchdown run. Heath lost a fumble on the ensuing drive, and White made it 14-0 lead with a 13-yard run on the Lobos' first play of the drive.

The Lobos built a 21-0 lead just eight minutes into the game on their next drive, using a 26-yard pass from Chumley to tight end Colin Jeter to set up Chumley's 3-yard scoring strike to fullback Antonius Sanders.

L'Darrius Peterson, who finished with 71 yards on eight carries, got into the act on Longview's next drive, scoring on a 26-yard run on the first play of the second quarter that put the Lobos up 28-0.

Chumley hit Sanders on wheel route for a 22-yard touchdown on Longview's following drive, before Brown's electrifying punt return gave the Lobos a 42-0 lead at the 7:35 mark of the second quarter.

Travin Howard intercepted Rockwall-Heath quarterback Chase Schultz on the ensuing drive, and Longview made it 49-0 with 5:26 showing in the second quarter when Peterson scored from 2 yards out.

Heath got on the board with 16 seconds left in the half when Schultz hit Austin O'Dell for a 7-yard touchdown.
