SULPHUR SPRINGS – The Troup Tigers got off to a quick start in a 50-16 win over Paris-Chism in a Class 3A D-II bi-district win at Gerald Prim Stadium on Friday night.

The Tigers ran six plays, resulting in six first downs and scored twice before the Mustangs could recover, and slow down the high-powered Tiger attack.

After a Chism drive stalled in nine plays on the opening drive after linebacker Trent Allen  and senior safety Matt Adams made a big stop on fourth-and-short to force the ball over on downs.

Taking over possession, junior wide out Desmond Deason ran under a long pass from senior signal-caller Weslee Ross on the first play of offense for a gain to the Mustangs 9-yard line.

Allen bulled in from there one play later, giving Troup a 7-0 lead.

The next Troup drive resulted in the same outcome but in four plays.

Allen set up his next touchdown with a 22-yard scamper, scoring two plays later from 6 yards away.

Allen broke loose for 56 yards on the first play of the half and Troup scored a play later. Ross got his legs working for a score from 16 yards, and the PAT kick was true for a 27-0, scoreboard.
