CARTHAGE -- The Bulldogs rallied from a two-run hole to upend Center, 4-2, in the second round of District 19-4A play.

Hunter Townsend turned the tide in the bottom third with a two-RBI double off the left field fence. Seth Ballenger added a base hit single in the four-run frame.

TCU signee Dalton Horton took his first loss on the mound this season and exited the game in the sixth inning.

Blaine Tomlin earned a complete game win. He scattered six hits through seven innings and struck out three Center batters.

Carthage (11-3, 5-2) hosts Rusk on Friday. The Roughriders (9-7, 5-1) will travel to Rusk on Tuesday for their next game.

 

 Big Fourth Inning Helps Whitehouse Past Lindale

WHITEHOUSE -- The Wildcats broke a draw with five runs in the bottom of the fourth en route to a 9-4 victory against Lindale in District 16-5A.

The game was tied at three apiece entering the frame.

Tanner Roach batted 3-for-3 in the game and reached base a forth time on a hit-by-pitch. He scored three runs and recorded two RBIs for Whitehouse.

Caleb McNulty also had a multi-hit evening, 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored.

Starting pitcher Ryan Walls (5-1) earned the win through 4.2 innings of work.

Whitehouse will host John Tyler on Friday. Lindale simultaneously visits Corsicana.

 

Texas High Blanks Mount Pleasant

TEXARKANA -- Texas High scored six runs in the first inning and cruised to a 6-0 win against Mount Pleasant in District 15-5A.

Zach Phillips allowed just one hit in the game through seven innings of work. He struck out eight along the way.

Texas High hosts Sulphur Springs on Friday. Mount Pleasant returns to action Friday and hosts Greenville.

 

Elkhart's Mason Huffines Pitches Shutout

ONALASKA -- Elkhart scratched out an 8-0 road win against Onalaska in District 21-3A.

Mason Huffines allowed four hits and recorded eight strikeouts through seven innings for the winning side. He also had two hits at the plate.

Chad Taylor picked up three RBIs in the win.

Elkhart will be on the road Friday at Leon. First pitch is at 7 p.m.

 

Grace Closes Out Brook Hill

BULLARD -- Tyler Grace Community needed almost every run, but it walked away as victors after a wild 12-8 game at Bullard Brook Hill.

The Cougars only failed to score in the second and third innings. Leading 8-7 after six innings, a four-run top of the seventh sealed the deal.

Grace outhit the Guard, 17-13.

Ryan Cox, Jace Kuechie and Blake Maddox had multiple hit nights for Brook Hill despite the loss.

 

Van Tops Wills Point

VAN -- The Vandals recorded four doubles and doubled up Wills Point with an 8-4 win in District 14-4A.

Bret Hale batted 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Sean Beasley, Christian Cole and Jacob Tobias recorded extra base hits.

Winning pitcher Garin Shelton advanced his record to 6-0.

Van (12-3-1, 6-1) hosts Brownsboro on Friday.

 

Hallsville Blows Out Longview

LONGVIEW -- Hallsville tacked on 15 runs in the top of the seventh for a 22-0 win against Longview in District 15-5A.

Bobcats pitcher Coby Weaver tossed 13 strikeouts and only allowed one hit in six innings of work.

Hallsville visits Marshall on Friday. Longview hosts Pine Tree.
