MARTIN'S MILL -- The Martin's Mill Lady Mustangs scored a 35-30 of Winnsboro on Tuesday in a matchup of state-ranked girls powers.

Martin's Mill (3-1), the defending Class A Division I state champions which is ranked No. 2 in the latest Texas Association of Basketball Coaches poll, was led by Cheyenne Brown's 25 points.

Winnsboro (6-1), ranked No. 11 in 2A, was led by Danie Mabry and Bailey Swanner, who had 11 points apiece.

The Lady Mustangs return to action Monday at Lindale, while Winnsboro travels to Quinlan Ford on Friday.

Texas High Edges Tyler Lee

TYLER -- The Texas High Lady Tigers opened up their season with a 65-62 win over Tyler Lee on Tuesday.

Kierra Smith led the way for Texas High (1-0) with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Angel Crump added 17 points, which included two 3-pointers. Jalissa Trotter scored nine points and added 13 rebounds, six assists and six steals and Grace Brooks had eight points (two 3-pointers).

Tree Brooks led Lee (1-3) with 17 points. Dominique Thomas added 16 points, while Berjae Lewis chipped in with 11.

Texas HIgh plays at Spring Hill on Friday, while Lee entertains Lufkin also on Friday.

Jacksonville Defeats Palestine

PALESTINE -- The Jacksonville Maidens earned a 47-41 victory over Palestine on Tuesday night.

Jasmine Parson led Jacksonville with 17 points. DaMonica Franklin added 16 points, while Inchantra Kendrick finished with 11.

Kierra Wilson paced Palestine with a game-high 19 points, which included two 3-pointers. Paradyse Page chipped in with 10.

Jacksonville's season resumes Friday at home against Athens. Palestine travels to Madisonville also on Friday.

No. 11 Chapel Hill Blows Past West Rusk

NEW LONDON -- The 11th-ranked Chapel Hill Bulldogs cruised to a 56-30 win over West Rusk on Tuesday.

Shay Ross led the way for Chapel Hill (4-0) with 15 points. Kyla Moore added 12 points, while Dai-ja Maddox, Kadeja Warfield and Schuyler Wages had seven points apiece. Maddox and Warfield each had one 3-pointer.

Chapel Hill returns to the court next Tuesday at home against Rusk, while West Rusk (1-1) takes part in the Cushing Tournament this weekend beginning Thursday.

No. 17 Mineola Takes Down Lone Oak

MINEOLA -- The No. 17 Mineola Lady Jackets took a 57-43 victory over Lone Oak on Tuesday night.

Sister Green led Mineola (3-1) with 17 points and two 3-pointers, while Kelsey Green added 16, which included four 3-point baskets. Jordan Dawson contributed eight points in the winning effort.

Mineola returns to action Friday at Kilgore.

Gilmer Has No Trouble With New Diana

DIANA -- The Gilmer Lady Buckeyes secured a 55-21 victory over New Diana on Tuesday night.

Destiny Brooks led Gilmer's balanced scoring attack with 11 points and added three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Sugar Stone added 10 points, four boards and two steals, Belynda Ray finished with nine points, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals and Sha'Danna Finch chipped in with eight points and three steals.

Jameekia Homer contributed six points, 10 rebounds and three blocks.

Gilmer hosts Liberty-Eylau on Monday, while New Diana hosts its own tournament Thursday-Saturday.

Winona Defeats Hughes Springs

WINONA -- The Winona Ladycats earned a 52-34 decision over Hughes Springs on Tuesday.

Kawaii Gordon led Winona (4-0) with 24 points, four rebounds and four steals. Jamece Gulley added 13 points, eight boards and four assists.

Winona's season continues this weekend at the Big Sandy Tournament on Thursday-Saturday. Hughes Springs is at Simms Bowie on Friday.

Bullard Brook Hill Victorious

BULLARD -- The Bullard Brook Hill Lady Guard improved to 2-0 on the season with a 45-27 win over Longview Christian Heritage on Tuesday.

Charlie Niles led the Lady Guard with 12 points, 11 rebounds and three steals. Morgan Fore added nine points in the winning effort.

Brook Hill participates in the Union Grove Tournament on Thursday-Saturday.

Tyler All Saints Upsets No. 2 Grapeland

TYLER -- The Tyler All Saints Trojans took down state-ranked Grapeland, 86-59, Tuesday night.

Aston Francis led the way for All Saints (4-0) with 30 points. Jaired Maddox added 24 points, while Luke Lee finished with eight points and 11 rebounds.

All Saints is back in action this weekend at the Austin Brentwood Tournament, which begins Thursday and continues through Saturday. Grapeland (0-1), ranked No. 2 in 1A D-I by the TABC, travels to Corsicana Mildred on Friday.

Marshall Runs Past Lindale

MARSHALL -- The Marshall Mavericks defeated the Lindale Eagles, 81-66, on Tuesday night.

Jay McKnight led Marshall (3-1) with 28 points. Shimar Jones added 20 points, Tiandre Jackson finished with 16 points and Chris Brown dished out 12 assists.

Marshall returns to the court Friday at Lufkin, while Lindale (2-1) is at Longview on Monday.

Pine Tree Knocks Off Spring Hill

LONGVIEW -- The Pine Tree Pirates earned a 41-35 victory over crosstown foe Spring Hill on Tuesday night at the Pirate Center.

Caleb Chumley led Pine Tree with 14 points, while Blake Adams added 11.

Pine Tree plays at Kilgore on Saturday, while Spring Hill entertains Hallsville also on Saturday.

Hooks Cruises to Rout of DeKalb

DeKALB -- The Hooks Hornets earned a 79-40 win over DeKalb in its season opener on Tuesday.

Kevin Romero paced Hooks (1-0) with 22 points. Tanner Hamilton added 19 points, while Jimmie Houston finished with 10.

Gunter Baxley led DeKalb (1-1) in defeat with 16 points.

Hooks entertains Trinity Christian on Friday.

New Diana Blows Past Union Hill

GILMER -- The New Diana Eagles took a 61-37 win over Union Hill on Tuesday.

D.Q. Hollins led New Diana (1-2) with 17 points. Jobi Ainsworth added seven points, while K.J. Jeffery and Cameron Taylor had six points apiece.

New Diana hosts its own tournament Thursday-Saturday, while Union Hill plays in the Union Grove Tournament this weekend beginning Thursday.

No. 11 Martin's Mill Tops New Summerfield

MARTIN'S MILL -- The 11th-ranked Martin's Mill Mustangs took a 55-46 win over New Summerfield on Tuesday night.

Davis Moore led the way for Martin's Mill (4-1) with 13 points, which included two 3-pointers. Logan Jenkins added 10 points and also knocked down two 3-point baskets. July Latimer made three 3-point shots for all nine of his points, while Hunter Conway also finished with nine points.

Francisco Parra led New Summerfield with 13 points (three 3-pointers), while Case Wilkerson added 11.

Martin's Mill plays Dallardsville Big Sandy on Monday at Tyler Junior College. New Summerfield is at Elkhart next Tuesday.

West Rusk Skirts Past Big Sandy

NEW LONDON -- The West Rusk Raiders took down Big Sandy, 42-37, on Tuesday night in the Wildcats' season opener.

Big Sandy (0-1) was led in defeat by Matt Easley's nine points. Cody Case and Caleb Smith added eight points apiece.

West Rusk (2-0) returns to action Monday and Tuesday at the Union Grove Classic, while Big Sandy plays in the Union Grove Tournament this Thursday-Saturday.
