SAN AUGUSTINE -- Jaylon Grant put up 31 points and a cast of Laneville players recorded nice days in other categories for a 72-56 win against San Augustine.

Ty Johnson had a game-best 13 rebounds in addition to seven points. He added four blocks and five steals.

Tralon Alexander scored a Yellowjackets' second-best 12 points and had eight boards.

Laneville (5-1) hit six 3-pointers in the game, led by Tiarel Franklin's two from behind the arc on the way to eight total points.

San Augustine was led by Jaylon Taylor and J.D. Brown. Both players scored 12 points.

 

Martin's Mill Cruises By Lone Oak

BEN WHEELER -- Martin's Mill, the second-ranked team state-wide in Class 2A, had four shooters reach double-digit points in Tuesday's 78-32 home win versus Lone Oak.

Davis Moore led the Mustangs with 18 points. Logan Jenkins scored 15, Hunter Conway chipped in 14 and Dylan Weatherford added another 12.

Lone Oak only had one player reach 10 points, Kevin Smith.

The win upped Martin's Mill to 5-0. Lone Oak fell to 4-4.

 

Grace Community Handles Arp

TYLER -- Andrew Melhart led Tyler Grace Community with 16 points and nine other Cougars got on the board in a 53-30 win against Arp.

Melhart connected on three 3-point shots, hit five of nine free throws. He also recorded five rebounds and three steals in the win.

Garrett Tauscher scored 11 points for Grace (4-8) and added four assists.

Caleb Culver led the Cougars with 10 rebounds.

Kalik Hines scored a team-best seven points for Arp (0-1).

 

Harmony Has No Trouble With Harleton

BIG SANDY -- Harmony held all of Harleton's five scorers to five or less points in a 65-21 win.

Konrad Eichelman led the Eagles (6-4) with 14 points and picked up four steals in the game. Dalton Brenner and Bentley Miner both added 10 points.

Brenner did most of his work on two made 3-point shots, and he led Harmony with five steals.

Harmony will play in the Great East Texas Shootout in Brownboro from Thursday through Saturday.

Harleton will simultaneously host its own tournament back home.

 

Girls Basketball

Henderson Tops Spring Hill

HENDERSON -- Ja'Keyah Stewart and Joy Williams both scored 13 points for the Lady Lions and the surrounding cast was enough to hold back a good Spring Hill push led by Ann Hollas.

Nakia McElhanon rounded out double-digit scorers for Henderson with 10 points.

Hollas recorded a game-best 18 points for Spring Hill.

Venessa Robbins scored six points for the Lady Pirates, all on made 3-point attempts.

Henderson (6-4) will play in Central Height's tournament. Its specific schedule consists of a game against Diboll at 2:30 p.m Thursday and a meeting with Nacogdoches at 8:30 a.m. Friday.

Spring Hill will play at the Great East Texas Shootout in Brownboro from Thursday through Saturday.

 

Winona Escapes Troup With Win

TROUP -- Josie Ross did all she could for Troup with 31 points, but Winona's Kawaii Gordon and an athletic Ladycats group bested the Lady Tigers for a 62-58 win.

Gordon scored 26 points for Winona (5-4) and had eight boards.

Randaysha Hanson scored 13 points and a Ladycats' high of five steals. Bailey Daniels chipped in nine points, all on made 3-point attempts.

 

Kirgan Leads The Way For Bullard In 66-43 Win Against Westwood

PALESTINE -- Lexi Kirgan had another fantastic game.

Kirgan scored 26 points and helped guide the Lady Panthers to a 66-43 win versus Palestine Westwood.

Maddy Slayter and Hannah Lloyd rounded out Bullard players in double-digit figures with 10 points each.

The Lady Panthers moved to an overall record of 11-2 with the win.

 

Gary Edges Beckville

BECKVILLE -- Gary defeated Beckville, 37-29, thanks to a team effort led by Ryley Beckham's nine points, eight assists, seven steals and two blocks.

Erin McClelland scored eight points, Lacey McCasland and Leann Youngblood rounded out top performers with seven points each. McCasland also recorded a game-best 13 rebounds.

Ashley Cook led Beckville with seven points.

 

Alba-Golden Blows Out Union Grove

ALBA -- It was a good night to be a on the Alba-Golden side of things.

The Lady Panthers (8-1) pulled off a 58-18 win against Union Grove and handed the opposition just their second loss of the season.

Union Grove (12-2) trailed just 15-9 after one quarter, but Alba-Golden held it to five points through the second and third quarters on the way to a 50-14 lead.

Caitlin Lennon scored 11 points in the win and eight other Lady Panthers had points in the game.
