TENAHA -- Laneville didn't have many problems Tuesday in the Tenaha Holiday Hoops tournament semifinal against a larger White Oak team.

The Yellowjackets won the meeting, 59-27, and will play Kountze at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday for the pre-district tournament title. Kountze defeated Laneville in the championship round last season.

Ty Johnson picked up a double-double in the win with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Tra Alexander led all scorers with 17 points. Jaylon Grant and Kendrick Anderson combined for 23 points.

Alexander and Anderson were two rebounds shy of their own double-doubles on an impressive night on the boards for the Yellowjackets.

Laneville advanced its overall record to 12-2.

 

Gladewater Outruns Pine Tree

LONGVIEW -- Caleb Williams scored 23 points to lead all scorers in Tuesday's high scoring affair, a 64-52 win for Gladewater against Pine Tree.

Daylon Gordon and Joseph Edwards also reached double-digit scoring in the game with 15 and 11 points, respectively.

Joel Best scored 19 points for Pine Tree. Eric Hawkins added 11 points.

Pine Tree will try to rebound Friday in a crosstown rivalry game with Longview in the Pirate Center.

 

Girls Basketball

Henderson Edges Hawkins

HAWKINS -- Tuesday's game between Hawkins and Henderson in the Hawkins Classic was not for the faint of heart.

Henderson was able to hang on for a 54-53 win with a 20-point fourth quarter after giving up the lead in the third frame.

Nakia McElhanon scored 15 points and recorded eight rebounds in the win. Keyah Stewart scored 11 points for the Lady Lions and Joy Williams was one point shy of a double-double with 13 rebounds in the game.

Ja'Keyah Stewart had an all-around strong performance with 11 steals, seven rebounds and five assists.

Hawkins' stats were not available.

Henderson will visit Bullard on Friday.
