TEXARKANA -- The Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers remained perfect in District 16-5A with a 61-56 win at Texas High on Tuesday.

Shakyra Hutchings led Mount Pleasant (17-8, 5-0) with 17 points and 16 rebounds, while Sakaria Grant knocked down five 3-pointers and finished with 16 points.

Texas High (10-11, 2-3) was paced in the losing effort by Antonia Porter and Vicki Willis, who finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Both teams are back in action Friday. Mount Pleasant hosts Sulphur Springs (19-3, 5-0) in a battle atop the district standings, while Texas High travels to Greenville.

 

Bullard Knocks Off Chapel Hill

NEW CHAPEL HILL -- The Bullard Lady Panthers rebounded from its District 15-4A opening loss to Gilmer with a 56-44 win at Chapel Hill, Tuesday.

Hanna Lloyd led Bullard (21-5, 1-1) with 23 points, which included four 3-pointers. Allie Kirgan added 12 points in the win.

Chapel Hill (15-6, 1-1) was led by Ty'Liyah Moore's 12 points.

The season resumes Friday for both teams. Bullard plays host to Spring Hill, while Chapel Hill plays at Kilgore.

Slocum Wins District Opener

OAKWOOD -- The Slocum Mustangs began District 27-A play with a 54-39 win over Oakwood on Tuesday.

Jacob Lane carried Slocum (12-11, 1-0) with 20 points, while Alex Maldonado chipped in with 14 points.

Slocum's season continues Friday at home against Avalon.

 

Harmony Downs Winona

WINONA -- The Harmony Eagles earned their first District 15-3A win of the year with a 50-40 victory over Winona on Tuesday.

Waymon Lay led Harmony (7-10, 1-3) with 11 points, while Qua Turner and Spencer Seahorn added nine points apiece.

Zach Bradford scored nine points to lead Winona (1-2 in district).
