WINONA -- Eleven points from Dee Wheeler and 10 points from Braxton Kincade helped Winona edge Harmony, 36-34 Tuesday in District 14-3A action.

Kincade also nearly reached double-double status with nine rebounds in the game plus three steals and two assists.

The Wildcats retained a share of first place within the district and will face travel to Edgewood on Friday.

Harmony simultaneously hosts Mineola.

 

San Augustine Pounds Kennard

SAN AUGUSTINE -- The Wolves didn't have many problems with Kennard, a 77-55 non-district victory.

San Augustine enjoyed three double-digit scoring performances. Kent Watts led the way with 15 points, Ced Thomas scored 14 and Zante Garrett rounded out the leaders with 10.

Q. Borders had a dominant night in the lane, 15 rebounds.

San Augustine hosts Shelbyville Friday and begins district competition next week.

 

Girls Basketball

Beckville Holds Off San Augustine

BECKVILLE -- Ashley Cook scored 15 points to help Beckville past San Augustine, 39-33, in a non-district win.

The Ladycats won 41 rebounds during the contest and forced an additional five turnovers. Cook recorded 17 of the boards.

Beckville will begin District 22-2A play Friday at home against Shelbyville.

San Augustine travels to Brookefield on Friday.

 

Winona Tops Harmony

WINONA -- Winona moved to 2-2 within District 14-3A thanks to a 43-32 home win over Harmony.

Lexi Lacy guided the Lady Wildcats with 18 points. Makayla Champion finished second on the team's score sheet, nine points.

Winona travels to Edgwood on Friday. Harmony will host Mineola.
