WINONA -- The Lady Wildcats survived a close one at home to Rusk on their home court, 49-43.

Randaysha Hanson led the way for Winona (8-2) with 14 points in addition to six steals and six rebounds. Lexi Lacy finished close behind with 13 points and a team-best six assists.

Nichole Garrett and Mallori Shacklett rounded out the top tied of Lady Wildcats' scoring with nine points each.

Winona will visit Grand Saline on Dec. 15.

 

Daughtrys Help Guide Grace By Mt. Enterprise

MT. ENTERPRISE -- The usual suspects for Tyler Grace Community helped put away Mount Enterprise early in the Lady Cougars' 52-29 road win.

Grace (11-2) built up a 16-2 lead through the first quarter and extended its lead of 31-9 at halftime.

Addie Daughtry paced the Lady Cougars with 16 points. Jordan Tauscher scpred 14 points and Parker Daughtry chipped in 12 points.

Grace will face the defending Class 2A state champions, Martin's Mill, at 8:15 a.m. Thursday in the Great East Texas Shootout at Brownsboro High School.

Bullard Tops Palestine Westwood

BULLARD -- Lexi Kirgan scored a team-best 20 points to help Bullard cruise to a 66-24 win Tuesday against Palestine Westwood.

Kristen Chamberlain and Sydney Foster also reached double digits with 13 points apiece.

The Lady Panthers led 33-7 at halftime.

Bullard will participate in the Great East Texas Shootout at Brownsboro High School from Thursday through Saturday.

 

Beckville Holds Off Gary

GARY -- Thirteen steals helped Beckville edge Gary, 28-23.

In addition to dominating in the turnover department, the Lady Bearcats (6-1) won 21 rebounds through the game.

Madi Mize led Beckville with 11 points. Gary's Erin McClelland put up a game-best 12 points in the loss.

Beckville will take on San Augustine at 11:15 a.m. Thursday in the Gary Tournament.

 

Chapel Hill Crushes Harmony

NEW CHAPEL HILL -- The Lady Bulldogs' outside shooting put Harmony in a hole early and Chapel Hill rolled to an 80-26 win.

Daija Maddox connected on five 3-point attempts and went on to score 25 points in the game. Mykaela Alfred scored 24 points with four 3-pointers.

Princess Suell also reached double digits for Chapel Hill, 15 points.

The Lady Bulldogs will participate in the Great East Texas Shootout at Brownsboro High School from Thursday through Saturday.

 

Boys Basketball

Slocum Downs Elkhart

ELKHART -- Slocum got above .500 with a 53-41 win against Elkhart.

Taylor Hunt and Jacob Lane led the Mustangs with 18 and 13 points, respectively.

Slocum will participate in the Gary Tournament from Thursday through Saturday. Elkhart will visit Cushing on Friday.
