Tuesday Softball Roundup: Elkart’s Camryn Rucker + Pollok Central’s Katelyn Boles Throw Perfect Games
ELKHART -- Sophomore pitcher Cameryn Rucker threw a perfect game Tuesday against Onalaska.
Call it a perfect-perfect game. All 21 of Ruckers' outs came on strikes in the 6-0 win for Elkhart.
The victory elevated the Lady Elks to 19-1 overall and 9-0 in District 21-3A.
Shyenne Heuer batted 4-for-4 in the win. Preslye Cox and Meagan Davis also hat multiple hits in the game.
Elkhart will travel to Leon on Friday for a first pitch at 6 p.m.
Katelyn Boles Throws Abridged Perfect Game
POLLOCK -- Katelyn Boles retired all 15 Newton batters faced in a 14-0, perfect game win.
Boles, a Northwestern State signee, struck out eight batters and got the rest with excellent defensive support through the run-rule shortened game.
Central took control in the second inning with 10 runs.
Jenna Roland led the Lady Dogs with three extra-base hits, two triples and a double. Baylee Adams, Brittany Caswell and Taylor due also had multi-bag hits in the District 22-3A victory.
Central will be back in action Friday at Garrison. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
Carthage Tops Henderson
CARTHAGE -- Samantha Clakley was not perfect for Carthage, but she got pretty close in an 8-0 win against Henderson in District 19-4A action.
The senior pitcher struck out 14 batters while allowing a hit and two walks in the complete game victory. It moved Clakley's personal record to 17-1 and the team's overall record to 19-2.
Kacey Maines batted 2-for-3 in the game with two RBIs. Ashleigh Edge recorded an RBI double, two walks and three runs.
Carthage visits Center on Tuesday.
Gilmer Rallies To Defeat Spring Hill
LONGVIEW -- Mallory Stanley's two-run homer played a major role in Gilmer's 4-3, come-from-behind win against Spring Hill in District 16-4A action.
The shot helped the Lady Buckeyes erase a 3-0 deficit that hung above their heads entering a four-run top of the sixth. Lidia Sustaire also did damage in the frame with an RBI double.
Gilmer's victory elevated its record to 8-8 and 4-1 in the league.
The Lady Buckeyes visit Kilgore on Friday.
