Tuesday Volleyball: Emory Rains + Carlisle Earn First-Round Wins

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Emory Rains began the postseason with a 25-16, 25-12, 20-25, 25-20 win over Liberty-Eylau in their Class 4A Region II bi-district playoff Tuesday night.

Rains (27-13) will face Carthage in the area round later this week.

Shelbi Sheppard led the way with 15 kills, five blocks, 19 assists, and 18 digs. McKenna Hildebrand added 11 kills and nine blocks, Summer Nerkowski had 10 kills, Vivian Bradshaw finished with 18 assists and four aces, Elissa Elliott had an ace and 21 digs, while Presley McAree chipped in with 15 digs.

Carlisle Outlasts Big Sandy

LONGVIEW -- The Carlisle Lady Indians escaped with a 16-25, 25-19, 25-20, 22-25, 16-14 win over Big Sandy in their Class 2A Region III bi-district playoff Tuesday night.

Carlisle (27-15) will face Avery later this week in the area round.

Aubrey Hart paced Carlisle with 22 kills and eight blocks. Heather Craig added 18 kills, two aces, and 16 digs, Camdyn Gray had eight kills, three aces, and seven digs, Callie Gray finished with four kills and four blocks, while Jailin Kee registered 46 assists and seven digs.
