GARY -- The fourth-ranked Beckville Lady Bearcats survived a scare from No. 11 Gary, but prevailed in five games, 23-25, 25-16, 25-22, 23-25, 15-8, Tuesday night in District 20-2A action.

Beckville's balanced attack was spear-headed by Carson Blair, who finished with eight kills, 24 digs and a block. Cassie Elizondo added eight kills, five blocks and three digs, Carley Lawhorn had eight kills, five blocks, three digs and an ace, while Kassidy Alexander and Madi Mize combined for 39 assists, 31 digs, four kills and an ace.

Kinley Blair chipped in with six kills, 10 digs and three blocks, and Natalie Morris finished with five kills, four digs and an ace.

Beckville (27-4, 5-0) returns to action next Tuesday at Overton.

 

Whitehouse Remains Perfect In 16-5A

NACOGDOCHES -- The Whitehouse LadyCats remained unbeaten in District 16-5A with a 25-9, 25-13, 25-9 sweep of Nacogdoches on Tuesday.

Megan Harris led Whitehouse (24-10, 7-0) with 11 kills. Ashton Ates added nine kills, four blocks and two aces, Kelly Keller had seven kills and two aces, Ronnie Fountain dished out 24 assists to go with seven kills and 13 digs, and Amanda Dimon provided a team-high 24 digs.

Whitehouse's season resumes next Tuesday at home against Lindale.

 

John Tyler Sweeps Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE -- The John Tyler Lady Lions earned a 25-13, 25-14, 25-13 sweep of Jacksonville in District 16-5A action on Tuesday night.

Chenique Baxter led John Tyler (4-3 in district) with nine kills, 10 digs and two aces. Shakendra Tilley added nine kills, and Kandice Jackson finished with 17 assists to go along with four kills.

John Tyler plays host to Lufkin on Friday.

 

No. 25 Van Takes Down Emory Rains

VAN -- The Van Lady Vandals remained perfect in District 14-4A with a 20-25, 25-13, 25-22, 25-21 win over Emory Rains on Tuesday.

Bri Thompson paced Van (25-9, 3-0) with 18 kills, 14 digs and two blocks. Hallee Carter added 10 kills, Alli Lloyd had eight kills, M'Kenna Daniel dished out 33 assists, and Jasiee Harris finished with 10 digs.

Van is at Canton on Friday.

 

Gilmer Defeats Chapel Hill

GILMER -- The Gilmer Lady Buckeyes came away with a 19-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-21 win over Chapel Hill in District 16-4A action Tuesday night.

Christian Brown led Gilmer (3-1 in district) with 16 kills, 20 digs, three blocks and an ace. Destiny Brooks added 14 kills, 11 digs and six aces, Belynda Ray finished with 12 kills and four blocks, and Maci Ritter chipped in with nine kills and five blocks.

Jaci Traylor and Maddie Woodard combined for 49 assists, while the defensive duo of Michela Devendorf and Sommer Hines teamed for 31 digs and four aces.

Gilmer is back in action Saturday at Bullard.

 

Eustace Falls To Troup

EUSTACE -- The Eustace Lady Bulldogs dropped a four-set match to Troup on Tuesday in District 18-2A action, 25-15, 26-24, 19-25, 25-17.

Michelle Gomez led Eustace in defeat with six kills. Makenzie Abbott added four kills, three aces and two digs, Marshalla Padgett registered four kills, four digs and an ace, Abra Roberts had nine assists and seven aces, while Ashley Purselley chipped in with nine assists and five aces.

Eustace is back in action Friday at Corsicana Mildred.

 

Ore City Sweeps Union Hill

ORE CITY -- The Ore City Lady Rebels evened their District 19-2A record with a dominating 25-3, 25-4, 25-10 sweep of Union Hill on Tuesday.

Tiera Cook led Ore City (16-15, 2-2) with nine kills and five blocks. Chelsea Young added four kills and 12 aces, Nataya Johnson dished out 13 assists and had four aces, while Morgan Clawson chipped in with three aces and three digs.

Ore City returns to the court Friday at Hawkins.
