Tuesday’s Softball Roundup: Carthage Takes Down Pollok Central + Elysian Fields routs New Diana
POLLOK -- Carthage run-ruled Pollok Central in five innings with a 12-0 win.
Kacey Maines guided the Bulldogs to the win with 6 RBIs while batting 3-for-4. All of her hits were doubles.
Ashleigh Edge also batted 3-for-4 in the game with 2 RBIs.
Combined, Carthage put together 13 hits.
Bulldogs pitcher Samantha Clakley struck out nine, walked five and allowed just one hit through five innings of work.
Carthage (17-3, 3-1 in District 20-3A) hosts Hudson at 6 p.m. Friday.
Elysian Fields Pulls Away From New Diana
NEW DIANA -- The Eagles and Elysian Fields were locked in a good one until the top sixth.
That's when Elysian Fields began to turn a 4-3 game into a 16-3 route.
The Yellowjackets' Devin Gonzalez and Montanna Methvin led the charge with four hits each.
Methvin had 3 RBIs in the game for Elysian Fields. Gonzalez, Sarah Findley and and Jacey Doyle each added 2 RBIs.
The Yellowjackets moved to 10-10 overall and 4-1 in District 17-2A. They host Tatum at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
