Tulane has been very active today in East Texas.

West Rusk rising senior linebacker Tyree Wilson is the fourth local player to receive a college football scholarship opportunity to the Green Wave program on the day. Wilson (6-5, 225) follows Marshall offensive lineman Kameron King, Henderson defensive end Keivie Rose and Henderson athlete Trae Hall.

With those four guys now on the Green Wave's board, Tulane is interested in eight players from the region.

Pleasant Grove's Xavier Benson and John Tyler's Tre Allison are second and third linebackers Tulane has targeted.

In spite of fierce competition with his teammates at the middle level of the defense, Wilson was able to record 74 total tackles during his junior season. Thirteen tackles went for loss through an 11-game season that ended with a first-round appearance in the Class 3A Division II state playoffs.

Wilson also played for the 2015 West Rusk team, which advanced to the fourth round of the 3A Division II postseason.

First-year coach Willie Fritz led Tulane to a 4-8 record last season. One win came in American Athletic Conference play.

Wilson, like all college football prospects currently in their junior year of high school, will become eligible to sign with any program that offers him in December.
