WACO -- Two East Texas track competitors and one of the region's relay teams qualified for state at this weekend's Class 5A Region II track and field championships in Waco.

Longview's sprint relay team of JaMycal Hasty, Deionte Wall, Jared Love, and Nathan Jones brought home gold with a time of 41.22 seconds, beating teams from Klein Oak and Garland for first place.

Tyler Lee's Jared Roberson earned gold in the pole vault. Roberson's 15-foot, 6-inch vault bested two competitors who cleared 15 feet.

Longview's Cedric King was the other East Texan to qualify for the UIL state meet, which is May 10-11 at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin. King's long jump of 22 feet, 2 1/2 inches earned silver at regionals.

East Texas did not produce any girls state qualifiers at the 5A Region II meet.
