Two Whitehouse Athletes Make Commitments to UT Tyler Official

Whitehouse seniors Brittany Matthews and Cody Gilbert made their college commitments to UT Tyler official during a ceremony Wednesday the high school library.

Matthews was a standout on the girls soccer team at Whitehouse, helping lead the LadyCats to the Class 4A Region II sectional round of the playoffs.

Gilbert finished third at the District 16-4A boys golf tournament last month and was a member of Whitehouse's regional-qualifying team.

The UT Tyler women's soccer team went 14-5-1 in 2012, winning the American Southwest Conference's regular-season championship.

UT Tyler's men's golf team finished the 2013 regular season ranked No. 15 in the nation in the Golf World poll after a runner-up finish at the ASC championships.
