Tyler Grace Community ended up blowing out TAPPS Division II, District 2 rival Bullard Brook Hill, 55-14, but the winning side faced very tough push back from a potent offense for three quarters.

Grace forced three interceptions, a fumble and two consecutive misplayed Brook Hill kickoff return attempts. With two timely interceptions in the Cougars' win, senior defensive back Jonny Spitzer is the Week 7 ETSN.fm/Dairy Queen Defensive Player of the Week.

Spitzer allowed Grace to hang on to a 27-14 lead twice Friday. He ended a Brook Hill drive at the Grace 42-yard line and, five players later, after a Grace fumble at their own 13-yard line on a bad snap, picked off a Brook Hill heave to the back of the end zone.

A TAPPS second-team all-state selection as a junior, Spitzer turned in an offensive score on a six-yard run early in the third quarter to give the Cougars a 21-14 lead.

He wasn't the only Spitzer making plays. His little brother, sophomore linebacker Josh Spitzer, recovered a Grace squib kick midway through the fourth quarter which ultimately opened the Cougars' lead to 41-14. Josh Spitzer then set up his own offensive touchdown run with a fumble recovery at the 4:29 mark.

Jonny Spitzer follows John Tyler nose tackle Pierre Leonard for the weekly honor.

Grace (4-2, 2-1) will travel to Tyler All Saints (4-2, 2-1) for a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday.
