Major Tennison's decommitment from Texas last week wasn't just an in-state story.

How far did it reach? Los Angeles far, apparently.

UCLA entered the Bullard tight end's college portfolio Tuesday and became the 14th Division I FBS school to approach the rising senior with a college football scholarship opportunity. Tennison (6-4, 248) announced his latest offer through his personal Twitter account.

The Bruins program hopped into the mix on the heels of a 8-4 regular season and a postseason loss to Nebraska in the Foster Farms Bowl. The five-loss campaign tied head coach Jim L. Mora's worst loss total through four seasons in Los Angeles.

Mora, who was once the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks franchises in the NFL, has a .698 winning percentage with UCLA. Highlights of his tenure include a Pac-12 championship game appearance and no worse than a top three finish within the league's South Division each season.

Tennison isn't the Bruins' first recent venture into East Texas, but it just might be the most fruitful. The program offered former Nacogdoches defensive backs Jaylon Lane and Brandon Jones in 2014 and 2015, respectively.

Lane ultimately committed to Oklahoma State before an off-the-field incident forced him to play junior college football. However, UCLA reached out to Lane once again last month ahead of his sophomore season at Independence Community College in Kansas.

Jones signed with Texas in February and will be part of a Longhorns defensive backfield that also features former Gilmer star Kris Boyd.

UCLA owns the United Press International's 1954 national championship and 17 conference titles. Furthermore, the program has produced 39 consensus All-Americans, including former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman.

Jackie Robinson also played Bruins football and, along with Aikman, wore one of 10 jersey numbers the program subsequently retired.

Tennison caught 27 passes in 11 games during his junior season with Bullard for 603 yards. Eight receptions went for touchdowns.

Aside from UCLA and Texas, Tennison owns standing offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Oregon, SMU and Texas Tech.

Several player representatives from Bullard will travel to Tyler on Wednesday for ETSN.fm Photo Days.
