ULM Gives Texas High’s Javon Thomas His Fifth FBS Offer

ULM capped a busy day in East Texas by offering Texas High 2015 running back Javon Thomas, the Tigers' incoming senior announced via Twitter on Wednesday night.

Thomas (6-2, 195), who now has five Division I FBS offers from Navy, Rice, Toledo, Tulsa and ULM, became the third East Texan in the 2015 class to receive an invitation from the Warhawks on Wednesday. ULM offered John Tyler's duo of Rodney Bendy and Nick Cain earlier in the day.

The Warhawks have offers out to five 2015 recruits from East Texas -- Bendy, Cain, Thomas and Canton's duo of quarterback Chandler Eiland and defensive end Samuel Miller.

ULM had a successful relationship with the 2014 class from the area, signing four East Texas players in February — Palestine running back Ben Luckett, Palestine offensive lineman Brian Thlang, Chapel Hill athlete Wesley Thompson and Chapel Hill defensive lineman Shaquille Warren.

The Warhawks compete in the Sun Belt Conference and went 6-6 overall and 4-3 in league play last season. ULM has non-conference games against Wake Forest, LSU, Kentucky and Texas A&M in 2014.

Thomas’ recruiting is beginning to take off as all five of his FBS offers have come since May 5. He’s a smart runner who finds lanes and can either take contact head on or find a way to cross up defenders in the open field. The tailback also can catch the ball in the backfield with ease.

Texas High, which went 9-2 with a District 14-4A title in 2013, will compete in the new 15-5A this fall along with Greenville, Hallsville, Longview, Marshall, Mount Pleasant, Pine Tree and Sulphur Springs.
