UTEP Offers Canton’s Samuel Miller

Canton's Samuel Miller picked up yet another offer Friday when UTEP extended an invitation to the Eagles' 2015 defensive end, Miller announced on Twitter.

Miller (6-3, 220), who is the first East Texan in the 2015 recruiting class with an offer from UTEP, now has 11 Division I FBS offers.

It was a busy couple days for the Canton playmaker, who received his first Big 12 offer Thursday when Kansas State came calling. Miller's 11 offers are now tied for fourth-most for 2015 recruits from the area along with Whitehouse safety and Texas A&M commit Justin Dunning.

UTEP, which competes in Conference USA, struggled in 2013. The Miners finished 2-10 overall and 1-7 in league play.

Miller's blend of size, speed and athleticism make him an attractive target for major college football programs. When not playing defense, he doubles as a tight end on Canton's offense.

In 2013, Miller put together a solid junior season, finishing with 89 tackles, 26 of the tackles for loss, as well as four sacks and three forced fumbles. His play helped spur Canton recover from an 0-4 start and reach the postseason.

Canton will compete in the new District 5-4A Division II this fall along with Bullard, Emory Rains, Gilmer, Melissa and Nevada Community.
