The 2014 season could not have started off any better for senior linebacker Brice Borgeson and the Van Vandals, who have begun the year with three consecutive victories.

Things got even better for Borgeson on Tuesday night when the Vandals standout tweeted out news of his commitment to Northwestern State.

Borgeson, who began his high school career at Tyler All Saints, transferred to Van prior to his junior season and has been a fixture on the Vandals' defensive front ever since. Borgeson has played both defensive end and outside linebacker in high school, but told ETSN.fm that he is being recruited at middle linebacker for Northwestern State.

So far this season, Borgeson has 18 tackles. Van's defense has been one of the best in all of East Texas so far, limiting opponents to just 34 points in wins over Palestine, Spring Hill and Lindale. The Vandals put their unbeaten record on the line this Friday night at home against Brownsboro (1-2).

Northwestern State, an FCS member competing in the Southland Conference, is off to a 1-2 start to the season. The Demons suffered losses to Missouri State and Baylor to begin the year, but rebounded for a 51-27 defeat of Southern last weekend.

Northwestern State, located in Natchitoches, La., plays at Louisiana Tech on Saturday before beginning conference play Oct. 4 at Southeastern Louisiana.
