The first Division I offer is in for Van's Brice Borgeson, and it came from Sam Houston State, the Vandals defensive end tweeted early Wednesday morning.

Borgeson (6-3, 225) competed at a Bearcats satellite camp late last week and came away feeling good about hearing back from the FCS power.

Sam Houston State is a member of the Southland Conference and has reached the FCS playoffs in each of the last three seasons, including back-to-back national runner-up finishes in 2011 and 2012.

The Bearcats also have a commitment from an East Texan in the 2015 class -- John Tyler cornerback Isaac Warren.

Borgeson, who transferred to Van from Tyler All Saints prior to his junior season, had a monster 2013 season for the Vandals. He finished with 116 tackles, 18 for loss and four sacks.

The big and physical Borgeson, who told ETSN.fm that Sam Houston was recruiting him at DE, is versatile enough to possibly play the outside linebacker position at the net level as well.

Van will try to build upon its 4-7 campaign from a season ago, which ended with a first-round loss to eventual state finalist Kilgore. The Vandals return most of their starters from 2013 and will compete in the new District 8-4A Division I this fall along with Athens, Crandall, Kaufman, Mabank and Wills Point.
