Visiting Saturday's Northwestern State camp in Shreveport paid off for Van's Brice Borgeson. The combination defensive end and linebacker received a scholarship opportunity from the Demons after the workout.

Borgeson confirmed the news via his Twitter account and added the university wants him to play middle linebacker at the next level.

Northwestern State's offer marks two for the Van athlete. He picked up an invitation to join Sam Houston State on Wednesday.

The Bearkats see Borgeson as a defensive end in college.

Both teams play in the Southland Conference of the FCS.

The Demons have quite a few other offers out for players in East Texas' 2015 class. Texas High defensive lineman William Brown, John Tyler quarterback Geovari McCollister and Gilmer athlete Chase Tate are high on Northwestern State's recruiting board and have not pledged to other schools.

The university has other standing offers to John Tyler receiver Rodney Bendy and Isaac Warren, but Bendy is committed to North Texas and Warren is standing with Sam Houston State.

Borgeson transferred to Van from Tyler All Saints prior to his junior season. He finished his first year as a Vandal with 116 total tackles, 18 of those for loss, and four sacks.

Van will try to build upon its 4-7 2013 campaign that ended with a first-round loss to eventual state finalist Kilgore. The Vandals return most of their starters from 2013 and will compete in the new District 8-4A Division I this fall with Athens, Crandall, Kaufman, Mabank and Wills Point.
