Very Little Movement Once Again For East Texas Schools in Latest Associated Press Rankings
For the second week in a row, there was very little activity regarding East Texas schools in the Associated Press rankings, which were released Monday.
The only change occurred in Class A where West Sabine (7-0) moved up one spot to No. 7 after its impressive 60-21 win over San Augustine. Tenaha (6-1), which was off last week, remained at No. 3.
Everything else reflects last week's rankings.
Longview (7-1), coming off a 37-22 win at North Mesquite, received two votes in the 5A poll, while Whitehouse (8-0) is still the third-ranked team in 4A after the Wildcats' 43-21 win at Nacogdoches.
In 3A, Gilmer (8-0) remained in the top spot after its dominating 71-13 rout of Spring Hill last Friday. Kilgore (7-0) is still No. 3 after the Bulldogs' 42-25 home win over Chapel Hill, and Carthage (8-1) stayed put at No. 7 following its 41-26 victory at Jasper.
Once again, three area schools are ranked in the 2A top 10. Newton is No. 2 after its 62-27 win over Anahuac, Tatum (8-0) is still No. 4 after its 49-14 rout of Sabine and Hughes Springs (8-0) is holding down the No. 10 spot again after is 61-0 blowout of Elysian Fields. Corrigan-Camden, Waskom, Daingerfield and New Boston all received votes.
