Volleyball Playoffs: Troup Sweeps Elkhart + Palestine Westwood Outlasts Sabine in Five

BULLARD -- The Troup Lady Tigers recorded a 25-13, 29-27, 25-21 sweep of Elkhart on Saturday in their Class 2A Region III area-round playoff.

Josee Ross led the way for Troup with 16 kills, four blocks, 16 digs and one ace. Cheney Cover added 11 kills, two blocks, 11 digs and an ace, Paeton Nolan had a kill, five blocks and six digs, Carly Dyess registered 24 assists with nine digs and one kill and Bethany Mason chipped in with 11 digs and an ace.

Troup will face White Oak this week in the regional quarterfinals.

Sabine Ousted By Palestine Westwood

BULLARD -- The Palestine Westwood Lady Panthers outlasted Sabine 25-21, 25-6, 24-26, 25-27, 15-10 in a Class 2A Region III area-round playoff Saturday.

Sabine (30-11) was led in defeat by Haley Stuart's 14 kills, one block, 15 digs and one ace. Tylia Sylestine added eight kills, 21 digs and eight aces, Skyllar Richter had seven kills, one block and two digs, Shelby Burns finished with four kills, one block, seven digs and two aces and Kasie Bell had four kills, one block, six digs and an assist.

Emily Ivins added 14 assists, eight digs, one kill and an ace, Jayden Mount had 16 assists, nine digs and an ace, Brittany Terry had 13 digs and a kill and Logan Davis finished with 17 digs.

Westwood will face New Diana in the regional quarterfinals this week.
