LINDALE -- The Lindale Lady Eagles opened the 2013 volleyball season with a 25-20, 25-13, 25-16 home victory against Longview on Monday night.

The Lady Eagles take their 1-0 record to the Longview Tournament later this week. The event is scheduled to start Thursday and end Saturday.

Longview got nine kills, one block, and four digs from Na'Qwavian Nelson in Monday's loss. Teammate Kaitlyn Adams had two kills, one block, 13 assists, and four digs, while Jordan Houser added one ace and 14 digs. Miranda Welborn was 10-for-10 at the service line with eight points, one ace, and eight digs.

Longview hosts Kilgore and Tyler All Saints on Tuesday before hosting the aforementioned tournament starting Thursday.

Sabine Beats Beckville in Five Games

LIBERTY CITY -- Sabine outlasted Beckville in Monday night's season opener, notching a 25-9, 25-21, 16-25, 20-25, 15-10 win.

Sabine's Haley Stuart had nine kills, three blocks, three aces, and five digs, while Tylia Sylestine had nine kills, two aces, and 22 digs. Jayden Mount added two kills, two aces, 11 assists, and 13 digs. Brittany Terry had five kills, one ace, and 14 digs, while Emily Ivins contributed one kill, nine assists, and 14 digs.

Beckville's Carson Blair had eight kills, six aces, and seven digs, while Ivy Rieke added seven kills, five blocks, and six digs. Teammate Carley Lawhorn had four kills and eight blocks.

Beckville's Natalie Morris had six kills, while Kassidy Alexander and Stacie Brevard combined for 21 assists.

Waskom hosts Beckville at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. Sabine hosts Big Sandy.
