HALLSVILLE -- Pine Tree came back from a two-point Game 5 deficit to edge rival Hallsville 21-25, 25-16, 25-20, 23-25, 15-12 on Tuesday night in a District 14-4A showdown.

The No. 8 Lady Pirates (24-5, 4-0) got 39 assists from setter Emily Shelton and 19 kills from Sky Holmes. Dee Patterson added eight kills. Darby Davis led Pine Tree with 20 digs, and Kennedy Sampson had 17. Jonquil Fisher contributed 15 digs.

Pine Tree continues 14-4A play at 4:30 p.m. Friday at home against Marshall.

Bullard Knocks Off Henderson in Four

BULLARD -- The Bullard Lady Panthers scored a big win Tuesday night, knocking off Henderson, 25-14, 16-25, 25-21, 25-20 in District 16-3A action.

The Lady Panthers (2-4 in district) were led by Mackenzie Fish, who had three aces, eight kills and 15 digs. Meredith Daly added nine kills and three blocks and Bri Ridgley registered four kills and 13 assists.

Mallory McCoy had 10 digs and 10 assists, while Madi Hodges and Lexi Abercrombie teamed for 29 digs.

"Our kids came out and played with passion and purpose," Bullard first-year coach Ben Belshaw said. "We talked about the will to win and they carried it out. It was a good match for us to finish our first round. You gotta love sports for the simple fact of putting your heart out there as a team and finding a way to accomplish a goal and succeeding in that.

"We are going to celebrate this one and then prepare for Kilgore. I am proud of what our girls did tonight."

Bullard continues its season Friday at home against Kilgore. Henderson, meanwhile, returns to action Oct. 9 against Gladewater.

No. 11 Van Takes Out Athens in Four Games

VAN -- The Van Lady Vandals remained perfect in District 15-3A with a 25-10, 25-18, 23-25, 25-14 victory over Athens on Tuesday night.

The win improved Van to 29-3 overall and 4-0 in district.

Van was led by Haley McCarty's 13 kills, five blocks and 13 digs. Bri Thompson added 15 kills and seven blocks, Susannah Wisdom contributed six kills and 12 digs and Morgan Wilkerson added 36 assists.

Van returns to the court Friday at Brownsboro, while Athens plays host to Mabank.

No. 14 Carthage Rolls to Sweep of 18th-Ranked Diboll

CARTHAGE -- The No. 14 Carthage Lady Dawgs swept No. 18 Diboll, 26-24, 25-18, 25-19, Tuesday night in District 20-3A action.

Shelby Soape led Carthage with nine kills and 10 digs. Iesha Bryant had six kills and five blocks and Kenzi Tate added 28 assists.

Carthage (23-7), which improved to 3-0 in district, returns to action Friday with a non-district match at Longview. The Lady Dawgs resume district play Oct. 9 at home against Center.

Kilgore Sweeps Chapel Hill in 16-3A Action

KILGORE -- Kilgore scored a 25-18, 25-15, 25-14 sweep of Chapel Hill in District 16-3A play on Tuesday night.

Sarah Mendenhall lead the way with 19 assists, seven aces and four digs. Tony Burks had 11 kills, Annie Mehringer provided seven kills, two aces and 16 digs and Nichole Flores contributed 19 digs and two aces.

Kilgore, which evened its district record to 3-3, returns the court Friday at Bullard. Chapel Hill is at Gilmer.

Rusk Outlasts Palestine in Five Sets

RUSK -- The Rusk Lady Eagles scored a five-set victory over Palestine, 25-12, 22-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-6, Tuesday night in District 19-3A play.

Gabby Willis led the way with 16 kills. Shayla Townsend added six blocks, Bailee Gates contributed 33 digs and Juliann Bowling provided 41 assists and four aces.

Rusk returns to the court Friday with a non-district match at home against Tyler T.K. Gorman. The Lady Eagles resume district play on Oct. 9 against Groesbeck, which travels to Palestine on Friday.

Arp Takes Four-Game Win Over Hawkins

ARP -- The Arp Lady Tigers took a 25-20, 25-18, 16-25, 25-23 victory over Hawkins on Tuesday night in District 18-2A play.

Kaci Kuykendall led the way with 11 kills, 22 digs and two aces. Tinikia Lacy added seven kills, six digs and one ace, Alicia Summers had 25 digs, 16 assists and two aces and Lauren Littlefield contributed nine kills, 13 digs and three aces. Sheyenne Atchley registered 42 digs.

Arp returns the court Friday at West Rusk.

Beckville Rallies For Five-Game Win Over Big Sandy

BIG SANDY -- The Beckville Ladycats overcame a 2-0 deficit to score a five-game win over Big Sandy, 24-26, 18-25, 25-22, 25-20, 15-11, in District 20-A action Tuesday.

Taylor Lindsay led the way for Beckville (15-10, 5-2) with 24 kills and 32 digs. Ivy Rieke added 11 kills, 15 digs and two blocks, Carson Blair had 11 kills, 20 digs and three blocks and Shelbi Dodson contributed 18 kills, 27 digs and a pair of blocks.

Emma Smith had 44 assists for Beckville, which continues its season at home Saturday against Timpson.
