Week 2 5A/4A Poll: Another Shuffle at the Top Puts Longview at No. 1
John Tyler's upset loss at Lancaster caused another shuffle at the top of the ETSN.fm 5A/4A poll.
The Lions (1-1), who were ranked No. 1 statewide in Class 4A by the Associated Press, fell a spot from first to second after the 26-21 defeat, while Longview's 30-14 rebound victory against North Little Rock puts the Lobos (1-1) back at No. 1, where they started the season. Despite a 41-31 win against Tyler Lee, Lufkin (1-1) slipped from second to third by virtue of having already lost to John Tyler.
Whitehouse and Mount Pleasant (2-0) were the up-and-comers. Whitehouse (2-0) drilled Chapel Hill 38-14 to jump from No. 7 to No. 4, while Mount Pleasant (2-0) skipped from 10th to fifth following a 35-21 win at Liberty-Eylau.
Sulphur Springs (1-1) lost 49-44 at home to Sherman and fell from fourth to sixth. Tyler Lee's aforementioned 10-point loss at Lufkin cost the Red Raiders one spot as they they dropped from sixth to seventh.
Hallsville returned to the poll in the No. 8 spot after the Bobcats hammered Van 38-13. Hallsville (1-1) fell out of the ETSN 5A/4A Top 10 after their season-opening loss to Whitehouse. Lindale (1-1) lost 38-21 at Carthage to drop from No. 8 to No. 9, and Shreveport Evangel routed Texas High 54-7 to push the Tigers to the brink of dropping out at the No. 10 slot.
