Week 6 5A/4A Poll: Little Change with Nine Teams Off Last Week

Only one team in last week's regional 5A/4A poll played, and the ETSN.fm Week 6 5A/4A Top 10 reflects the inactivity.

Tyler Lee fell to 1-5 with a 27-7 loss at North Mesquite in District 12-5A play. That defeat dropped the Red Raiders, who are off this week, from No. 8 to No. 9, bumping Jacksonville (2-3) -- 1 of 9 idle teams in the poll -- to No. 8.

No. 1 John Tyler (4-1) opens District 16-4A competition this week at Corsicana, while No. 2 Longview (3-2) continues 12-5A play with home showdown against Rockwall-Heath. Third-ranked Whitehouse takes its 5-0 record into a home 16-4A opener against Lindale.

No. 4 Lufkin (3-2) hosts The Woodlands in perhaps District 14-5A's biggest game of the year. Fifth-ranked Hallsville (4-1) takes a four-game winning streak into a 14-4A opener at Marshall. No. 6 Sulphur Springs (3-2) visits No. 7 Mount Pleasant (4-1) in a pivotal 14-4A contest.

No. 8 Jacksonville travels to Nacogdoches to start 16-4A play, and No. 10 Texas High (1-3) hosts Pine Tree, which has won two games in a row, in a 14-4A opener.
