There were plenty of worthy defensive performances in Week 2, but none bigger than Talon Winings'.

Winings, a defensive back for West Rusk, started a scoring run with the Raiders down 17-6 to Waskom on Friday. He recovered a fumble in the end zone for the first touchdown.

After he scored the go-ahead touchdown on offense, he came up with the interception that sealed the game, allowing West Rusk to escape with an 18-17 victory.

He is the ETSN.fm/Dairy Queen Defensive Player of the Week, following Linden-Kildare's Ty Patterson.

Winings improved his totals to three interceptions and a fumble recovery in two games. West Rusk is 2-0 and set to face Harmony at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Big Sandy.
