White Oak Captures Tyler Invitational Volleyball Tournament

TYLER -- The White Oak Lady Necks captured the Tyler Invitational volleyball tournament with a 25-16, 25-20 victory over Tyler Lee in the championship match on Saturday.

White Oak needed wins over Pine Tree (25-14, 25-21) and Dickinson (25-19, 25-13) to reach the final, while the Lady Raiders defeated Paris North Lamar (25-19, 25-19) and Rains (25-22, 25-18) before falling in the finals.

Dorothy Swanson, Morgan Baldwin and Shelby Stillwell made the all-tournament team for White Oak. Other all-tournament members were Mallory Kuechle (Tyler Lee), Taylor Whinchester (Tyler Lee), Bailee Berringer (Dickinson), Alexis Bongiorno (Rains) and Laure Coursey (North Lamar).

Dickinson finished third, while North Lamar finished as the consolation champion in the championship bracket.

There was no champion in the silver bracket as Whitehouse opted not to compete against the Whitehouse junior varsity in the final. Texas High came in third, while Arp won the consolation.

Making the silver-bracket all-tournament team were Angela Knight (Whitehouse), Ashon Ates (Whitehouse), Lindsey Hannah (Whitehouse), Amanda Dimon (Whitehouse JV), Ali Knight (Whitehouse JV), Katy Wilkins (Arp), Chanell Hayes (Texas High) and Jalissa Trotter (Texas High).
