Back-to-back Class 2A state champion White Oak took home three of five superlative honors with the release of the 17-2A all-district boys basketball team.

White Oak 6-foot-7 senior forward Levi Yancy was named 17-2A Most Valuable Player, while senior point guard Kris Anderson received Defensive Player of the Year honors. Ron Boyett, who led White Oak to a 74-2 record during its consecutive state championship seasons, was named Coach of the Year.

Tatum senior guard Javolick Garrett was selected as the Offensive Player of the Year. Jefferson sophomore William McKnight was named Newcomer of the Year.

Yancy averaged a double-double this season with more than 12 points and 10 rebounds per game. In two state tournament games, Yancy had a total of 20 points, 27 rebounds, and nine blocked shots. Anderson, the state championship MVP, averaged almost 12 points and six assists per game, plus more than 2 1/2 steals per contest.

Garrett scored 85 points in Tatum's final four contests. His 24-point effort led the Eagles to a 60-49 second-round win over No. 1 Kountze. He had 23 in the next round in a 62-51 win against Crockett, then 16 in a regional semifinal win over Jarrell and 22 in the Eagles' 66-47 regional championship loss to Tatum.

White Oak and Jefferson each had three first-team all-district selections. Tatum and Waskom had two apiece.

Voting was conducted by district coaches.
