HUGHES SPRINGS -- Heath Hood is a tough player to defend and added to his list of victims Friday in a 56-7 win at Hughes Springs.

Hood, a junior quarterback, threw five touchdowns and ran for a sixth score in both teams' District 8-3A Division I opener. Max Kutch caught three of the scoring passes.

White Oak (6-0, 1-0) took the lead for good 32 seconds into the contest. Hood slipped away for a 31-yard touchdown run.

Running back Connor Hearron's 51-yard reception made it a 14-0 game and Kutch scored twice before the end of the half.

Brandon Cook returned a punt 35 yards to remove all doubt in the third quarter.

Alex Bruce got Hughes Springs (3-3, 0-1) on the board after the punt, but Kutch scored a third time and Antonio Castiglione scored on a pass from backup Roughnecks quarterback Dallas Reeves.

White Oak will host Sabine next week. Hughes Springs travels to Jefferson.
