Whitehouse Quarterback Patrick Mahomes Named Class 4A Built Ford Tough Player of the Week

When you throw for almost 400 yards and a career-high seven touchdowns against the state's top-ranked Class 3A team, people notice.

That's exactly what Whitehouse senior quarterback Patrick Mahomes did this past Friday, leading the Wildcats to a 63-39 home victory after trailing by 19 points early in the third quarter.

For his performance, Mahomes was named Tuesday as the 4A Built Ford Tough Player of the Week.

Mahomes completed 25 of 42 passes for 396 yards and seven scores while rushing for 70 yards on 12 carries. After Whitehouse, which is ranked No. 3 in 4A, fell behind 39-20 three minutes into the third, Mahomes connected on 11 of 18 throws for 212 yards and four touchdowns in the game's final 21 minutes.

Through five games this season, Mahomes has throw for 1,962 yards, 24 touchdowns, and only one interception.

Mahomes is the third East Texan to receive a Built Ford Tough Player of the Week honor during the 2013 season.

Pine Tree senior quarterback Dalvin Manns earned the 4A award following his big performance in Pine Tree’s 64-49 win at Center on Sept. 6. Manns completed 24 of 40 passes for 502 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception and ran 11 times for 48 yards and four touchdowns.

Kilgore junior running back Kevrin Justice received the 3A honor after his 257-yard, two-touchdown performance in the Bulldogs' 48-20 win against Mount Pleasant on Sept. 20.
