Whitehouse offensive lineman Keagan Smith has committed to Kilgore College, he told ETSN.fm on Tuesday night.

The 6-foot-1, 315-pounder chose KC over several other schools that he had talked to, including Tyler Junior College, Midwestern State, Stephen F. Austin State, Hardin-Simmons, and Howard Payne.

Smith plans to play for Kilgore for a year before transferring to a four-year school to complete his college football career.

Smith is a two-year varsity starter who also saw action in two games for Whitehouse as a sophomore. He was part of an offensive line that helped the Wildcats average 476.4 total yards per game, including 351.7 passing yards in 2012. Whitehouse started 9-0 and finished 10-2 with second-round playoff appearance.

Smith is 1 of 2 college-bound offensive linemen from Whitehouse. Hunter Conn (6-5, 290) is committed to Lamar.
