Whitehouse junior Megan Harris verbally committed to play softball at Ole Miss, ETSN.fm learned on Monday.

Harris, a center fielder for the LadyCats, earned first-team all-district honors for 16-4A this past season after claiming the district's Newcomer of the Year honor as a freshman.

The softball standout chose Ole Miss over several other programs that offered.

Harris plays select softball for Texas Glory out of McKinney and she was able to travel to California, Colorado, Nevada, Oklahoma and Louisiana with the team over the summer.

Ole Miss finished 25-31 and 3-21 in the SEC in 2013, which was head coach's Wendy Thees' second year at the helm.
