Against the No. 1-ranked team from Class 3A, Whitehouse needed a another big-time performance from senior quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

He delivered.

Mahomes passed for 395 yards and a career-high seven touchdowns and added 84 rushing yards in the Wildcats' 63-39 triumph over previously-unbeaten Carthage last Friday night. The performance earned Mahomes ETSN.fm/Dairy Queen Offensive Player of the Week honors.

The Texas Tech commit completed 25 of 43 attempts to 10 different receivers in helping Whitehouse overcome a 19-point, third-quarter deficit.

Carthage led 39-20 with 9:08 remaining in the third, but Mahomes and Whitehouse scored 22 points in 4:10 to take a 42-39 lead. During the critical third-quarter surge, Mahomes threw a a 67-yard touchdown to Shemar Smith and bombs of 55 and 23 yards to Jaylon Dews. Mahomes' other four touchdown passes covered 17, 41, 22 and 17 yards.

For the season, Mahomes has now passed for 1,961 yards and 24 touchdowns with just one interception.

Mahomes and Whitehouse (5-0) are off this week before beginning District 16-4A play Oct. 11 at Lindale.
