TENAHA — Woden built a 20-point second-half lead and coasted to a 53-38 victory over Class A Division II No. 24 Chireno on Saturday at the Special Events Center.

Woden outscored Chireno 23-10 during the second and third quarters to build a 33-18 lead heading to the fourth quarter. The lead grew to 42-22 early in the fourth before Chireno (15-5), which played with only six players, charged back, cutting the deficit to eight points, 46-38, in the final minute.

Woden’s Blake Reimer scored a game-high 22 points, while Donald Stricklen, an all-tournament performer, scored 19 points. Chireno’s Brandon Alvis and Hunter Fountain scored 10 points apiece. Teammate Austin Little added eight.

Because of two foul-outs, Chireno finished the final 17 seconds with four players.
