LUFKIN – Zane Boles threw for 209 yards and added 110 on the turf, racking up six touchdowns as Henderson battled past Jasper, 60-43, on Saturday afternoon at Abe Martin Stadium.

Henderson (11-2) advanced to the Class 4A Division I, Region III final to meet top-ranked Navasota (13-0). Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. Saturday back in Lufkin.

Boles finished 8 of 10 passing in the win for the Lions and rushed 21 times. He connected with Trestan Ebner six times for 151 yards, including three touchdowns. Randy Davis added a halfback pass for a 51-yard score to Jefferson Armstrong.

For Jasper, junior quarterback Quentin Williams amassed 324 yards of total offense and four touchdowns in the offensive shootout. He rushed for 122 yards with scoring jaunts of 1 and 8 yards. He added two long scoring throws -- 50 and 75 yards -- in the losing effort for the Bulldogs.

Randy Spikes also hit the century mark on the ground, gaining 125 yards on 10 carries and caught two passes for 126 yards, both resulting in scores.

The two teams traded scores in the opening half with Henderson scoring in the final minute and converting the two-point attempt to take a 31-24 lead into the lockerroom.

A stop by the Lions to open the second half set up a quick scoring drive with Davis hitting Armstrong on a double pass, which put Henderson up 39-24 with 9:34 left in the third quarter.

The two teams exchanged blows in a 36-point third quarter with Boles and Ebner hooking up for the third and final time on a 39-yard pass to put Henderson up 54-37 heading into the final stanza.

Boles rounded out his six-touchdown night with a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter. Jasper scored again on a halfback pass but the Lion defense held and Boles and company were able to run out the clock on Jasper’s season.
