BROWNSBORO -- Aphonso Thomas rushed for four touchdowns, and Van held off Brownsboro, 34-26, Friday night at Bear Stadium.

Van (3-1) jumped out to a 27-0 lead, but had to hold on after Brownsboro (1-3) outscored the Vandals, 20-7, in the second half.

Thomas, a Nebraska commit, scored on runs of 31, 29, 23 and 6 yards. The Vandals' Josef Ruiz also knocked home field goals from 37 and 42 yards.

Brownsboro was led offensively by Jamal Bell, who caught three touchdown passes -- one from Wyatt Rinehart and two from Tamrick Pace, who scored Brownsboro's other touchdown.

Each team returns to action next Friday night. Van is Paris North Lamar, while Brownsboro travels to Rusk.
