Brook Hill is almost always in contention for a state title around this time of year with titles won in 2004, 2011, 2012 and 2013.

The Guard are back in the TAPPS 4A state tournament following a two-year drought thanks to a 10-6 win Saturday against Fort Worth Southwest Christian in Game 3 of the state quarterfinal round. Seth Brasher batted 2 for 4 with three RBIs to lead the way and complete a rally back from a 1-0 series deficit.

Brook Hill edged Southwest Christian in Game 2, 15-14, with a walk off hit from Ryan Cox that scored Brasher. That followed a 10-9 loss in Game 1, where a 5-2 Guard lead through three innings was lost.

The Guard (19-10) will face Midland Christian (25-10-1) Tuesday in the state semifinal round while Houston Second Baptist and Austin Hyde Park simultaneously play. All games will be hosted by Baseball USA at its complex in Houston.

The winners of the state semifinal games will meet Wednesday for the 4A state championship game back at the Baseball USA complex.

Baseball USA's complex's address is 2626 West Sam Houston Parkway N. in Houston.
