Bullard’s Major Tennison Decommits From Texas

One of East Texas' most prized members of the 2017 class has re-opened his recruitment.

Bullard senior tight end Major Tennison announced via Twitter on Friday his decision to decommit from Texas. He originally pledged to the Longhorns on Oct. 14, 2015.

Tennison (6-4, 248) did not cite a specific reason for his decision, but one of the potential factors may have been Texas' offseason hire of new offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert, who came in from Tulsa.

Aside from the Longhorns, Tennison holds FBS offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Oregon, SMU, and Texas Tech.

Tennison is planning a visit to defending national champion Alabama in the near future, according to reports.

The Panthers' star caught 27 passes in 11 games during his junior season for 603 yards. Eight receptions went for touchdowns.

Bullard finished the 2015 season with an overall record of 7-4 after falling to Atlanta in the first round of the Class 4A Division II playoffs.

The Panthers, who will compete in District 9-4A Division I this season along with Carthage, Center, Chapel Hill, Henderson, Kilgore, and Palestine, open the season Aug. 26 at Malakoff.

Tennison will become eligible to sign with any program that offers him on National Signing Day -- Feb. 1, 2017.
