ETSN.fm Preseason Class 3A Poll: No. 3, Arp Tigers
Everything was looking bleak at the start of the 2015 season for Arp, which dropped five of its first six games. But the Tigers rebounded by traveling three rounds deep in the playoffs.
With 16 starters returning from last year's strong-finishing group, Arp is expecting a significant jump this season.
The Tigers check in at No. 3 in ETSN.fm's Preseason Class 3A Poll.
The potential juggernaut begins with standout running back Kayce Medlock, an SMU commit, who is one of East Texas' top overall athletes. Medlock, who ran for more than 1,200 yards in 2015 despite sharing carries, has the capability of carrying the team on his back.
Fortunately for longtime coach Dale Irwin, he shouldn't have to.
Arp is also bringing back quarterback Tyler Stewart, running back Tray Baker, and a strong collection of offensive linemen.
Defensively, the Tigers should be strong once again. Defensive end DeMarvion Overshown was one of the area's most athletic defenders last season, while linebacker Jordan Brantley is a physical specimen.
