Friday Basketball: Whitehouse Boys Open District With Win

ENNIS -- The Whitehouse Wildcats began District 17-5A play with a 73-55 rout of Ennis on Friday night.

Jackson Mahomes led a balanced Whitehouse (16-6, 1-0) scoring effort with 19 points.

Javier Neal added 14 points, while Kolby Jimmerson and Peyton Kennedy scored 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Whitehouse's season continues Tuesday at home against Lindale.

AVALON -- The Slocum Mustangs dropped a 61-45 decision to Avalon on Friday night.

Slocum (14-10) was led in defeat by Jacob Lane and Taylor Hunt, who scored 16 points apiece.

The Mustangs host Laneville on Tuesday.
