Per the City of Lake Charles, and Calcasieu Parish Police Jury’s Office of Juvenile Justice Services:

Attention Mardi Gras revelers! If you're planning to enjoy Fat Tuesday festivities in Lake Charles, be aware of a weather advisory that may impact your plans. High winds and the potential for severe weather are expected Tuesday afternoon, leading to the closure of a key family-friendly area.

"The Zone," the alcohol- and smoke-free space designed for families with children, will NOT be open this year due to safety concerns. This area, normally hosted by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury’s Office of Juvenile Justice Services, offers free food, games, and music, but out of an abundance of caution, it will remain closed for Fat Tuesday.
