Could The Lufkin Christmas Parade Be Rained Out?

Update: The parade has been rescheduled to Tuesday (Dec 10th) at 5:30PM.

Update: The City of Lufkin was originally going to make the call about the parade tomorrow today (Friday) at 4 PM. They have decided to push that decision until the day of the parade (Saturday) tomorrow at 9 AM. The weather forecast has changed a lot over the past few days, and after reading this new release the parade will likely go forward as planned, stay tuned for more updates tomorrow at visitlufkin.org.

If the City of Lufkin Christmas Parade had been scheduled for today, it would have been canceled. It has been a dreary, dark, wet, fall day that lets the cold into your bones.

The weather forecast for Saturday's ( 5:30 PM December 7, 2024 ) parade is 40% better than today. There is a 60% chance of rain on Saturday, mainly focused on the afternoon.

The City of Lufkin sent a press release regarding bad weather plans for the event.

It stated the city would assess the weather at 4 PM on Friday, December 6th, and make the call. They will stand by that unless there is heavy rainfall, thunder, or risk of lightning at the time of the event.

No Plans To Reschedule Lufkin Christmas Parade If Rained Out

If Lufkin's Christmas parade is canceled, there are no plans to reschedule the event. The city asks that everyone keep an eye on the weather leading up to the event.
