While this resurgence in reading is going on nationwide, we here in the Pineywoods lose the last bastion of literary trade in Nacogdoches. Bookstores in our area don't seem to be working, and now there will be none left in Lufkin or Nac.

Dead Tree Dreams Permanently Closes This Week

In a post on Facebook, Dead Tree Dreams posted they would be closing for good on Saturday, December 21, 2024. They are closing so Wendie can retire and focus on her health. Financial reasons were also mentioned as another reason for closing.

They no longer buy books, a large part of their business model, but they do have deep discounts on books they have left. They are also offering play time with the store cat/mascot Atticus at their home.
