Post-Pandemic Traffic Surge: Texas Leads the Nation
If you have noticed more cars on the road in Texas than ever, you are not alone. Texans' love affair with using a car or truck as personal transportation isn't going anywhere.
According to Axios, the 'rate of driving' during the COVID-19 pandemic was way down. That is understandable, as we were trying to stop the spread.
Across the nation, there has been a 12.3% increase in driving per capita. One Texas town had the highest change in the U.S. from Spring 2019 to Spring 2024.
Data Shows That One Texas Town Has Had A Huge Traffic Spike
Axios used a report from Street Light Data, a transportation data company, that found two Texas towns significantly increased the amount of traffic on their roads.
McAllen, Texas has increased its average daily vehicle miles traveled by 67.6%. That was the biggest increase in the U.S.
