As predicted, snow and ice have arrived in North Texas, and the roads are as treacherous as always.

Look, I grew up in this part of the country and will be the first to admit that I don’t love it when the roads are covered with snow and ice. It typically snows once or twice a year, so we aren’t equipped for it the way they are up north.

So, it doesn’t take much precipitation when the temperature drops below freezing to paralyze us.

And far be it from me to criticize anyone who gets into an accident out there. Don’t get me wrong – I've witnessed people doing stupid stuff on icy roads, but even the safest drivers can find themselves sliding out of control.

However, the one thing I would recommend to anyone who has no choice but to drive in this weather is to avoid overpasses at all costs. They freeze before any other part of the road and can be slick as all get out without appearing to be.

The video below is the perfect example of how treacherous overpasses can be. As you can see, the roads are relatively clear, but the semi slid out of control on the overpass and may have gone over the side if it wasn’t for the pole it ran into.

Hopefully, the roads will clear up in the next day or so. In the meantime, y'all be safe out there.
