British Teens Try Texas BBQ for the First Time — Their Reactions Are Priceless

Everyone knows the British have great taste in music (Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, Sabbath, etc.), but they also have great taste in food.

A Texan’s First Bite of Fish and Chips in Portsmouth

I had the pleasure of visiting Portsmouth, England, back in 1992 while stationed aboard the USS Harry E. Yarnell. One thing I made a point to do while I was there was to try some fish and chips. I was not disappointed.  

As someone who almost always tried the local cuisine in the countries I visited, the thing that sticks out the most to me as I reflect on my time there is that out of all the European countries I visited, fish and chips was my favorite meal. It reminded me of the fish I grew up eating here in Texas. 

Yes, the Brits know good grubbing. The video below is further evidence of that.

British Teens Take On Texas Barbecue — With Hilarious Results

Watch as a group of British high school kids get their first taste of Texas barbecue. It’s hilarious because one of the boys says it looks like “mud” when he was asked what it looked like to him. He was quick to point out that it didn’t taste like mud. 

As someone who grew up on Texas barbecue, I can’t imagine how awesome it must be to try it for the first time as a teenager. Like one of the kids said, it’s sublime.
